About the blog
I am an aspiring trader, trying to engineer a career change. I’ve traded part time for the last seven years. I became serious about four years ago but I’m still learning. My goal is to become a full time, self-sustaining trader in five to ten years.
La la la,
La la.
Now that we have all that out of the way, let’s be friends. Oh, by the way, this blog is closed.

I have come to the conclusion that there are only trends, but depending on your time frame it could be seen to be in a range. If you want to trade the trend change your time frame and learn to be patient.
’successful at trading one or two’. Now days I just look at the GBPUSD pair. Find the trading system that fits your life style.

Jay, I really like your pontifications. Have you read “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell? He says that the ones who excel in their chosen fields, the Bill Gates’, Michael Jordans, and Meryl Streeps, they all got there by practicing their craft for 10,000 hours, or about 10 years according to Mr. Gladwell. So, you’re almost there!! Of course, I don’t think Gladwell included fx traders in his study: we get to 10,000 hours in 3 years, easy.
cheers

Jen, you just made the top ten on my “Cool Persons” list. Anyone who reads Gladwell has my respect, if not my willingness to buy them a beer over some intelligent conversation…if you buy the next round, then you get more respect points….

Just read your piece on Glen Beck. Glad to see that people are speaking out against such mindless tirades, on both sides of the aisle. If I may make an observation that has disturbed me for the last years of the previous administration, and seems to permeate the airwaves today.
We seem to have replaced logicial discourse and give-and-take discussions, even heated ones, with name-calling. Instead of citing reasons why someone we believe is behaving badly, we call them “assholes.” It’s as if we have gotten too lazy to reach down and document a reason why we don’t agree, or even have a major disagreement with someone. Its as if we’ve chosen to just stop at the first step and taken the easy way out with the name calling. I am in major-league disagreement with Beck, and O’Reily, Limbaugh and Hannity for this same reason. What I read in your comments is the same, simplistic approach to issues as Beck, just from a different perspective or side of the room.
We can do better. You can do better.
PS: Check your spelling.

Long-Term, thanks for the comments, albeit misplaced. But I will respond here. There is no logical discourse to be had with most people who listen to the likes of Beck. Thus, the “asshole” moniker. There is nothing needed in the way of nuance to dissect Beck’s shortcomings in his personal life, in his television behavior, and in his “reporting”. A simplistic approach is sufficient. I reiterate: He is more interested in polemics based on half-truths than in reporting, but he wants the status of a reporter. But even his polemics SUCK. He’s a hack and an asshole. Simple, right?
Definition of Asshole — a stupid, incompetent and detestable person. So I said in one word what would have taken four. Give me one point for succinctness. I wasn’t really striving for pithiness, so subtract one and we’re even.
Sorry for not proofing my posts. I’m prone to all kinds of mistakes when I’m ranting. I promise to write version two, sans the name-calling. But you have to admit, there is no reasoning that would make such a discussion fruitful with Beck. Sometimes you just have to stand back and recognize that, yeah, this guy really is an ASSHOLE! Perhaps if I used the word asshat, the impact of my vulgarity would have diminished so as to let my finer points shine more brightly….?
Seriously, though, I appreciate the comments. And thank you for trading long term!
